This letter, dated April 15, 1868, is from Thomas Sherwood, the Chair of the Clay County Kansas Board of Commissioners, regarding the county's affairs to Kansas Governor Samuel Crawford. Sherwood wrote requesting the governor to appoint W. H. Fletcher as the new probate judge to replace M. H. Resline, who resigned. Clay County was organized in 1866.
