This artifact likely represents the midsection of a dart point manufactured on Knife River Flint. It was recovered from Doniphan County, but the Knife River Flint is a highly valued knapping stone from western North Dakota. Either the material or the finished dart point were traded to northeastern Kansas. After knapping, the dart point was mounted to the dart fore shaft, and then thrown with an atlatl.
