This letter written from Dr. J. B. Woodward to Judge Rush Elmore relates to the case against D. A. Butterfield for contempt. Woodward writes from Junction City, Kansas Territory on November 4, 1859 to notify Judge Elmore that Butterfield is too ill to travel to the court in Lecompton to serve as a juror.
