These legal documents include a court bill, judicial writ, and affidavit related to the case of the United States vs. James Brewer for contempt. Brewer is accused of failing to appear and serve as a juror for the U. S. District Court, Kansas Territory, Second District, in Lecompton on November 7, 1859. On April 23, 1860 Brewer swore an affidavit to a deputy U. S. marshal that he had not received the initial summons to appear as a juror.
