These legal documents relate to the case of the U. S. District Court of the Kansas Territory, Second District vs. Lewis Baum for contempt. Baum is accused of failing to appear before the Second District Court in Lecompton, Kansas Territory on May 9, 1859 to serve as a juror. On July 15, 1859 a writ was issued ordering Baum to appear before the court and explain why the judgement should not be final. On November 7, 1859, a judgement of $35.50 was issued against Baum. The U.S. marshal reports "no property found" on August 21, 1860.
