This case file contains a writ for Russell Banks issued by the Second District Court of the Kansas Territory in Lecompton on February 24, 1859. The writ states Banks was summoned to the Second District Court on October 4, 1858 to act as a petit juror but failed to appear. The writ orders Banks to appear at the district court during the 1859 March term and explain why a fine of ten dollars should not be levied against him. The writ was returned unexecuted for lack of time.
