This court form, addressed to the U.S. Marshall for the State of Kansas, states the charge of contempt against Calvin Adams. Adams was sent a summons in September of 1857 to appear at the Second District Court in Lecompton, Kansas Territory, and serve as a juror on October 5th, 1857, but Adams failed to appear. This document orders Adams to appear before the court on March 14th, 1859 and pay a fine of ten dollars.
