The photograph shows an early view of Tioga, which became the town of Chanute, in Neosho County, Kansas. The buildings that are identified include the Samuel Ridenour residence, the Reverend R. S. Johnson residence, the G. W. Williams blacksmith shop, the Ridenour-Baker wholesale grocery store, the John B. Beatty hardware store, a saloon, the Sherman House hotel, and the G. P. Wilder drug store.
