These three dart points were recovered from an American Indian camp site in Elk County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1972, 1973, and 1975. The large tan corner notched dart point was manufactured on Permian chert, as was the pink contracting stem dart point. The pink color is the result of heat treating the chert prior to manufacture in order to improve the knapping qualities of the chert. Both contracting stem dart points have had their tips broken. After knapping the dart points were mounted to the dart fore shaft, and then thrown with an atlatl.
