This frizzen and flash pan for a flintlock firearm was recovered from Montgomery County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 2002. The flash pan holds the priming powder and leads the spark through the touch hole to the main powder charge in the firearm chamber. The frizzen encloses the priming powder and acts as the striker for the flint when the weapon is fired.
