These two muzzle loader barrels were recovered from a possible Osage camp site in Montgomery County. Little is known about this site. Both fragments are made of iron and show no visible signs of rifling. The larger barrel appears to be cut off from the front end of the barrel. The shorter fragment has an interior diameter consistent with a .50 caliber rifle. They were both cleaned by electrolysis, which uses chemicals and electrical current through a liquid solution to separate the rust from the artifact.
