These 14 large, thin bifaces were recovered from an Early Ceramic period camp site in Atchison County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1925. A cache is any similar items that have been stored or hidden for later use. It is possible that these bifaces formed such as cache. All are manufactured on Permian chert. Three, with a pink cast, show varying degrees of heat-treating, a technique that improves the cherts knapping qualities.
