This large chert biface was collected during the 1930s by the University of Nebraska, who were excavating in Kansas at that time. In 1987 it was donated to the Kansas Historical Society. According to the writing on the biface it was "Found by Eddie Harness, Salt Creek Valley Leavenworth County, Ks." Salt Creek Valley is in eastern Leavenworth County and drains into the Missouri River. The biface measures 9.1" long, 1.9" wide and .7" thick. Some type of moldable filler was used on one side at some point, possibly to cover a break. Though hardened now, the filler retains the repair person's fingerprints. The biface's function is unknown.
