These two knives were donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1991. The lighter colored knife has been heat-treated to improve its knapping qualities. The base was notched so that it might be hafted onto a handle. Both knives could have essentially served as bifaces and further thinning and refinement of the chert might have turned them into projectile points.
