This German silver pectoral cross, donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 2006, once belong to the Chief Bacon Rind of the Osage. Chief Bacon Rind, also named Wah-she-hah (Star-That-Travels) lived from 1860 to 1932. The German silver used in making this pendant was actually a copper alloy with nickel and was highly prized in trade items. Etched on the cross are a warrior figure with a sword, a horse with rider carrying a gun and a sword, a partial horse, two different species of birds, and a sun and floral motif in the center. Lines and notches decorate the edges and four quarter moons hang from the cross bar, two of which are decorated and two which are plain. The reverse has two attachments for suspending the cross.
