This toy soldier was recovered from Ellsworth County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1988. It is a nearly complete horse, missing only portions of it legs, with a bridle, blanket and saddle. Only the legs remain of the rider. The term toy soldier applies to all combat-related figures including soldiers, cowboys, knights and pirates. They were often sold in sets and could be made of lead, tin or plastic.
