This brass emblem was found in the donor's yard at Hays, Kansas, nearly a 1.5 miles from historic Fort Hays. It was donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 2009. It may date to later than the occupation of Fort Hays. The emblem shows a left facing eagle with a shield of stars and bars. The eagle holds an olive branch in its left claw and three arrows in its right claw with a banner above stating "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
