Archeologists are not always able to identify an artifact. For example, the artifact shown here, made from a piece of chert called Smoky Hill silicified chalk, was described in the records as either a mid-section of a plano-convex tool or a Native Indian made gunflint. It was found at a site in Graham County, but the associated artifacts were not helpful in concluding what type of site it was or when it was occupied.
