First known as the Hotel Lambert and later as the St. James Hotel, this inn and saloon was notorious during the late 19th century. At least 26 men were known to have lost their lives in gunfights in this establishment, and when the ceiling was replaced in the early 20th century, hundreds of bullet holes were discovered. Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
