This is a studio portrait of Emma Palenske, the daughter of Joseph and Augusta Dieball of Alma, Kansas. On the reverse is advertising for Palenske's Alma studio, "From L. Palenske's Art Gallery and Book Store. The only permanent gallery in the County. Alma, Kansas." Handwritten are the words, "Mama about 1885." Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
