These three photographs show a fire destroying the Throop Hotel in Topeka, Kansas. The four-hour fire destroyed the historic 125-room hotel at Fourth and Kansas Avenue on April 25, 1950. Over the years the facility had been a gathering place for the Kansas Republican and Democratic parties. The Kansas Day Club also meet at the Throop. The first banquet was held at the hotel on January 29, 1892. The structure was eventually torn down.
