These nine arrow shafts were donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1943. The original donor card states "Presented by Rev. Roderick duVal Sheldon in memory of his father, Joseph L. Sheldon, who acquired the collection from Indians in Kansas immediately following the Civil War." The arrow shafts are all missing their points, four are blunt, three are split to facilitate hafting and two are broken. One shaft is undecorated, but the other eight have some painted areas on the proximal (that area closest to the body) ends. Six have black bands, one has a red band, and one has a red and green band.
