This pipe tomahawk was donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1903. It has an overall length of 19" and the metal head is 8" long. The wooden handle was boned or chipped and stained and has a place for a cord attachment. Pipe tomahawks were adapted from tomahawk in the early 1700s. Pipe tomahawks in this style were made during the 1860s.
