This button was among the many that were recovered from the excavations at the Last Chance Store in Council Grove during the 2016 Kansas Archeology Training Program. The black rubber two-hole sew through button has a back mark that reads "N R CO GOODYEAR'S P=T." This is the mark of the Novelty Rubber Company that generally manufactured these type of buttons between 1853 and 1872.
