This clear glass ink bottle was recovered during excavations in 1966 at historic Fort Hays in Ellis County. On the front of the bottle are intertwined monograms, S M Co, for the Sandford Manufacturing Company, who manufactured ink from 1857 through the late 1930s. Fort Hays was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and is a State Historic Site.
