Small fretwork wall cabinet. Hinged doors depict a figure with a dog. Lined with textured gold paper. Made by Josiah Thomas Genn, who came to Kansas from Maine in 1857 and settled in Wabunsee County just south of Wamego. He enlisted in Company L of the 11th Kansas in May of 1862 and spent two years in present-day Montana fighting Indians. When he returned home his injuries prevent him from engaging in farm labor, and he took up scroll-sawing as a hobby.
