These four thread spools were recovered during the excavations at the 2016 Kansas Archeology Training Program at the Last Chance Store in Council Grove. All of the spools are wooden and the two taller spools show some damage from either rodents or termites. Both of the small spools had lettering on each end, though it is quite faded on one. One spool still retains the lettering "Button Hole Twist Full Size" and "Belding Bros & Co 10 Yds" on the other end. Belding Bros & Co mills were in operation from 1866 until a merger in 1925. The Last Chance Store was added into the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
