This toy iron and dish were recovered from the Last Chance Store in Council Grove during the archeological monitoring of the site in 2016. They were found during the removal of the water meter, near the bottom of meter well. Did some little girl or boy accidently or purposefully put these toys there? The bottom of the small dish has the word "JAPAN" stamped on it, indicating it was made sometime between 1891 and 1921. The Last Chance Store was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
