This is a photograph showing Rollie Clemence's sweet potato harvest. Clemence from Abilene, Kansas rented land near Zeandale Road east of Manhattan, Kansas and planted sweet potatoes. In 1962, he had a bumper crop, four hundred bushels per acre. He ran ads in the newspaper asking for harvest help and all these people turned out. Dr. N. D. Harwood is wearing the white shirt and necktie second from the right. The land was owned by his wife Louise Harwood.
