Here are two photographs showing people boating and riding horses on the Philips' ranch located near Munjor, Kansas. Two brothers, George and Alex Philip, settled in the English Colony at Victoria in Ellis County. George came with the first group of colonists and Alex came later. The Philip brothers married two Hardie sisters, Jane and Annie. George and a partner opened a general store in Hays, Kansas. Alex owned the ranch on Big Creek, pictured here, which he and his wife started with 320 acres and later expanded as other colonists left the area.
