This photograph shows Captain James Hughes' son, Bill (1918- ), posing with a rifle at New Mexico Military Academy, Roswell, New Mexico (NMMI). NMMI is known as the "West Point" of the West. It provides high school diplomas and Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. The Institute's Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) began in 1916.
