This photograph from 1929 shows the Topeka Santa Fe baseball team, champion of Topeka's City League for the first half of the leauge's season that year. The team won nine games and lost one. Other teams in the City League were Topeka Santa Fe Shop Crafts, Rock Island, and Union Pacific. Kneeling in the front row of the photo are (l to r): Jerry Tarr (mistakenly spelled "Farr" in the caption), catcher; Putnam Price, pitcher; Floyd Rogers, center fielder; Merril Mills, third baseman; and Pete Tarr (mistakenly spelled "Farr" in the caption), shortstop. Standing in the back row are (l to r): P.M. Snyder, business manager; L.C. Denney, pitcher; Harry Nelson, pitcher; G. Givens, first baseman; Carl Clayton, second baseman; Charles Warren, outfielder; and F.W. Stenger, left fielder. Not pictured is the team's right fielder, Art Roglitz. The photograph was published in the August 1929 issue of the Santa Fe Magazine. Digital reproduction of the photo was accomplished through a joint project sponsored by the Kansas Historical Society and the Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame.
