These two ceramic handle sherds were recovered from the Saxman site in Rice County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 2016. The larger loop handle has shell tempering and is decorated with 17 punctates. The handle was riveted to the pot as is shown by the rivet scars on the interior. Rivets on handles are created by inserting a portion of the handle into a hole in the pot and then smoothing over the interior. The smaller loop handle has grit temper and is decorated with six punctates and a pinched protrusion near the base of the handle. It was molded onto the pot. The Saxman site, a large Great Bend aspect village, was occupied by the ancestral Wichita people.
