Small paper booklet titled "Official Base Ball Rules." The booklet was published by A.G. Spaulding & Brothers. It was used by Reverend A. Frank Johnson while working in Europe at the end of World War I. According to his application for a U.S. passport, Johnson traveled to England, France, and Italy with the Y.M.C.A. He reportedly served as the chaplain for the 140th Infantry, 35th Division. While there, he oversaw a baseball game between the soldiers of that unit and those of the 139th Infantry in the spring of 1919 in St. Nazaire, France.
