This spindle whorl or fly wheel was recovered during excavations at the Kansas Archeological Training Program field school in 1998. It was found in Meade County at the Lundeen site, a Middle Ceramic period camp site that was part of Wilmore Complex. The ceramic artifact was used either as a spindle whorl for spinning yarn or fiber or as a fly wheel to help in drilling holes.
