These two photographs show views of Western University in Kansas City, Kansas. The first image is a statue of John Brown in front of Ward and Parks Hall. The second image is the Western University's football team, the Bulldogs. The school was established in 1865 and was located in the city limits of Quindaro along the south banks of the Missouri River in Wyandotte County, Kansas. For seventy-eight years the institution provided a four year education to African-American students until it closed in 1943.
