These two photographs show the ruins of the historical town of Quindaro and the campus of Western University overlooking the Missouri River. Established in 1865 the school was located in the city limits of the historical town of Quindaro along the Missouri River in Wyandotte County, Kansas. For seventy-eight years the institution provided a four year education to African American students until it closed in 1943.
