These three albumen photographs depict scenes from the McPherson County farm of Swan Burk. Two of the photographs show the Burk homestead, including the house and farm buildings. One of the homestead photos includes family members posed in the foreground. The other homestead photo is taken from a similar vantage point, but it has no family members in the foreground and it is printed in reverse. The third photo was taken in a broom corn field. Some of the individuals in the latter photo are identified by name, including Andrew Anderson, David Johnson, Hans Larson, K.O. Anderson, Franz Granath, and Carl Granath. Although not identified by name, the individuals in the buggy are believed to be Swan and Maria Burk. Swan Burk emigrated from Sweden to the U.S. in 1865, and homesteaded in the New Gottland area of McPherson County in the spring of 1871. He and his brother Gust were among the earliest settlers in that part of the county.

Date: Between 1880 and 1895
