These four scrapers represent just a few of the many that were collected from Elk County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1959. All four are made of Alibates chert, a colorful chert from the Texas panhandle. The scrapers may have been hafted onto a handle and used to scrape hides. They would have required periodic resharpening.
