This photograph shows inmates Richard Roe, prisoner 9604, and Eldridge Preston, 8247. Richard Roe, also known as Harry Smith, was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on December 10, 1900 from Cowley County, Kansas for burglary and larceny. Eldridge Preston, also possibly known by the given name Elliott, was received at the penitentiary on September 23, 1897 from Logan County, Kansas for murder.
