This photograph shows inmates James Render, prisoner #9096 and James L. Porter, prisoner #8740. James Render, also known under the alias Kid Denver, was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on November 2, 1899 from Wabaunsee County, Kansas for murder. See also Unit ID 311300. Inmate James L. Porter was received at the penitentiary on December 1, 1898 from Douglas County, Kansas for a highway robbery.
