This photograph shows inmates John Henry Collins, prisoner #8882 and Bert Brestler, prisoner #8952. John Henry Collins, also known by the surname spelling Callins, was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on April 5, 1899 from Shawnee County, Kansas for murder. Bert Brestler was received at the penitentiary on June 5, 1899 from Sumner County, Kansas for stealing a horse.
