This handwritten box score from 1924 is a statistical summary of a minor league baseball game played between the Newton Railroaders and the Enid Harvesters. The document is undated but its details correspond with the box score published in the Newton newspaper for the game played on June 16, 1924. Newton won the game by a 5-1 score. Both teams competed in the Class D Southwestern League. The Railroaders won the first half of the league's split season, but the team was relocated shortly thereafter. John J. McCloskey, the team's owner and manager, transferred the franchise to Blackwell, Oklahoma in late July, and then to Ottawa, Kansas in early August. He returned the team to Newton in late August to finish out the season. McCloskey's initial decision to relocate the team was prompted by financial difficulties exacerbated in early July when an intense storm destroyed the ballpark's grandstand.
