Archeologists literally piece together the past like these sherds of a whiteware plate. They were recovered in 2014 from the original site of the Adair cabin, home of Reverend Samuel and Florella Brown Adair and their family, in Osawatomie, Kansas. A maker's mark on the back identifies that this once prized possession was made by The Potters Co-Operative Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio. The pictures here show the piece before and after reconstruction. Osawatomie and the Adairs were much involved with the abolitionist movement during the "Bleeding Kansas" years. Florella Brown Adair was the half sister of John Brown.
