This photograph shows the American Legion baseball team that represented Topeka's Capitol Post 1 in 1946. Also known as the Mosby-Macks (after the team's sponsor, the Mosby-Mack Ford dealership in Topeka), the Capitol Post 1 team won its fourth straight state Legion championship in 1946. The Mosby-Macks' consecutive state title streak would eventually extend to six. Standing in the photo (from left to right) are: unidentified; Jack Shepard; Paul Fink; Bud Fawl; Chick Gordon; Howard Pool; Frank Logan; Woody Bulkley; Don Bliss; Richard Wolfe; Coach Claude Hays; and, sponsor Herb Mack. Kneeling in the front are (left to right): unidentified; Harland Coffman; John Alberg; Dick McConnell; Bob Schulte; Bill Ransom; and Don Farmer. Digital reproduction of the photograph was accomplished through a joint project sponsored by the Kansas Historical Society and the Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame.
