Collection of town share certificates assembled from various sources. Such shares were purchased by individuals who wished to own property in towns being developed in Kansas Territory. Many of the certificates are still blank. The collection is organized alphabetically by town name. Some of the towns represented include Arizonia, Ashland, Battle Hill, Belmont, Bloomington, Blue City, Brooklyn, Buffalo City, Burlington, Chetolah, Delaware, Denver City, DeSoto, Donelson, Doniphan, Emporia, Falls City, Forest Hill, Geary City, Geneseo, Granville, Humboldt, Jacksonville, Junction City, Junction Rapids, Prairie City, Lane City, Lanesfield, Leavenworth, Lecompton, Lexington, Manhattan, Marmaton, Meade Center, Minneola, Moneka, Nashville, New Haven, Newport, Osawatomie, Osawkee, Oswego, Ottumwa, Palermo, Palmyra, Pawnee, Pottowatomie, Quindaro, Richmond, Rochester, St. Charles, St. George, Saratoga, Scioto, Spring Hill, Tecumseh, Topeka, Troy, Twin Mound, Unadilla, Wabaunsee, Washington, Webster City, Westopolis, Winthrop, and Zeandale.
