Photograph showing an interior view of Dr. W. H. H. Smith's drug store in Alta Vista, Kansas. Smith was a registered druggist, born in Illinois in 1858. He began his practice of medicine in Eureka, Kansas, coming to Alta Vista in 1897. He bought the practice and drug store from Dr. E. W. Eldridge. Dr. Smith built a reputation as a physician and operated one of the most successful drug stores in the country. He moved to Council Grove in 1910 and practiced there for many years. Only Dr. Smith, standing at right, is identified. The postcard is addressed to Miss Sarah Collins in Dwight, Kansas.
