Foster, Tom Hutton. Back row: Essex (Commander in Civil War), McClinock, Rhodes, Landsdown, Money, George Reese, Rev. Dice (Methodist preacher). The Grand Army of the Republic was organized at the close of the Civil War by veterans of the Union Army as a fraternal organization that provided support to veterans.
