Portrait of Lewis Lindsay Dyche with his harpoon equipment, as photographed by D. Garber in his New York studio at 747 Broadway. Professor Dyche was professor for twenty five years at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. He was a zoologist and taxidermist who prepared the exhibits at the University of Kansas Natural History Museum, displaying the animals in natural groupings in their native habitat. He was an explorer with many scientific expeditions to Greenland and other countries. In 1911, he was appointed Fish and Game Warden of Kansas with an interest in conserving the wildlife.
