Correspondence to and from Kansas Adjutant General Hiram Allen, who held this position from 1897-1899. Noteworthy items mentioned in this correspondence include state approval for the organization of a new volunteer infantry in Coffeyville, Kansas and a description of the Sons of Veterans Camp in Hutchinson, Kansas. Letters written to Governor John Leedy are also included, urging him to enlist men for service and accept those rendering services for the Spanish-American War, which occurred April-August 1898.
